ArcAqua · Industrial automation / Food-safety

ArcStation

BMEC's first major engagement. We came in to rescue a stalled vendor relationship, then designed ArcAqua's flagship industrial ozone sanitation system - the IS-2 - from the ground up. It passed CE certification on the first attempt and has been in the field for over a decade.

The challenge

ArcAqua had been working with another development firm for years with poor results: timelines slipped, scope kept shifting, and - most damaging - nobody could give a straight answer about who owned the source code.

They needed two things at once: someone to hold the failing vendor accountable, and a partner who could actually engineer their next-generation industrial system to a production standard.

We stepped in as their technical team, held the vendor accountable, then built their flagship industrial system from scratch. CE certified, first attempt, no revisions. That was over ten years ago.

What we did

  1. 01

    Stepped in as fractional CTO

We attended the vendor meetings, set clear deliverables, and managed delivery from the client's side until the original project was finally completed - and the IP question was settled in the client's favour.

  2. 02

    Engineered the IS-2 from scratch

Full 3D CAD mechanical design, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electronic, electrical and firmware design - a 500 to 1,000 component system designed as a coherent whole.

  3. 03

    Proprietary nozzle R&D

Research into a proprietary nozzle design laid the groundwork for the client's patent portfolio.

  4. 04

Designed for production, not just for show

The IS-1 was always a prototype to generate learnings. The IS-2 was engineered to be the scalable, production-ready version - and it went straight to production.

In practice

How we build.

Modelled, simulated and tested before production - then made and assembled with the same rigour.
